Graduation from the IDC
A client would under optimal circumstances expect to graduate from the IDC about 3 years after first entry.
The decision to graduate is usually made on a case-by-case evaluation of the business, and the time for graduation is usually made after close consultation with the IDC business managers and the client.
As a general rule the following indicators usually mean a client is ready for graduation;
- The clients business is rapidly growing, products or services are being marketed and sold and revenue is being generated by the business.
- The management of the business has built sufficient confidence and expertise that they are now relying less and less on the IDC advisory services.
- The size of the business has physically outgrown the space or facilities that is being offered by IDC.
- The client feels in their own right that it is time for them to be seen by the business world as independent, and capable of operating in their own right.
We also encourage graduates to become alumni of IDC and from time to time give a little back in terms of mentoring new early stage companies. We also encourage alumni to attend certain events and continue to know the new clients. We also call on alumni to contribute occasionally to workshops and seminars if their time permits.
